For farmers

Sell your harvest at the AgriHub

Bring your maize to Olonini. We test it, weigh it in front of you, and pay the price we confirmed for grain that passes the test. You watch the scale.

  1. Call or WhatsApp

Tell us how many bags you have and where you are. We quote today's price per 90 kg bag by phone. Your price becomes final at the scale, once moisture and weight are confirmed.

  2. Bring a sample or deliver

A handful from a few bags is enough for a moisture test. For larger lots, ask whether we can collect.

  3. Test and weigh

Moisture is read on a calibrated meter. Grain is checked for soil, stones, mould and weevils. Bags are weighed while you watch.

  4. Get paid

M‑Pesa or bank transfer, with a receipt showing weight, moisture and price.

For millers, feed makers and traders

Buy dry, moisture-tested maize by the load

We supply maize from our store at Olonini to millers, feed manufacturers and traders. Every lot is moisture-logged and traceable to the stack it came from.

  • Moisture-logged

Readings are taken on receipt and through storage, so you know the grain was kept dry, not just that it was dry on the day it arrived.

  • Traceable to the stack

Each stack carries a card with its weights, moisture readings and dates. Lab grading can be arranged for larger orders.

  • Weighed out in front of you

Lots are weighed out on our scale in 90 kg bags and invoiced by Firstfield Farms Limited.

  • Collect or have it delivered

Collect ex-store at Olonini on the Narok–Bomet Highway, or ask for a delivered price to your gate.

Storage

How we keep grain

Maize loses value fast when it is stored badly. Our store at the AgriHub is run the way a grain store should be, with the records to prove it.

  • Off the floorBags sit on timber dunnage with tarpaulin between the timber and the grain, which keeps floor moisture away from the bags.
  • Off the wallsStacks stand about a metre clear of the walls, leaving room to inspect, sample and treat every side.
  • Stack cardsEach stack has a card recording bags, weight, moisture readings and every movement in or out.
  • Pest controlTreatment is carried out by licensed operators, and nothing moves in or out without being recorded.

Our story

A First Field. A Lasting Future.

Every harvest begins with a decision to plant and the belief that what we nurture today can create something valuable tomorrow.

At Firstfield Farms Limited, that belief shapes the business we are building in Narok County, Kenya. Our ambition is to grow quality food, protect the value of every harvest, and build an agricultural enterprise that people can depend on.

Our name carries a sense of beginning. A first field represents possibility, responsibility, and the willingness to put in the work before the results are visible. It speaks to the patience farming demands and the future we hope to build, season after season.

As our first season’s maize moved from the field into storage, that responsibility continued. A harvest represents months of effort, investment, and care. Preserving its quality matters just as much as producing it. Through our grain operations in Ololulunga, we are building the discipline behind that promise: careful handling, moisture monitoring, organised storage, and clear records.

We want that care to reach further. Our vision includes stronger connections between farmers and buyers, better protection against losses after harvest, and practical technology that helps make farming more productive. As we develop, we are working toward the facilities, skills, and standards needed to support that vision.

For us, progress must mean something to the people connected to the farm: the team doing the daily work, the farmer seeking a dependable market, the buyer expecting consistent quality, and the family whose food begins in a field like ours.

Our mission is to grow and supply quality food through responsible farming, careful stewardship of every harvest, and trusted relationships that strengthen agricultural livelihoods.

We are still writing our story. Each season brings lessons, each improvement strengthens our foundation, and each relationship gives us another reason to get the details right.

Firstfield Farms Limited exists to turn that daily commitment into something lasting for our business, our community, and the generations who will farm after us.

Rooted in the land. Growing with purpose.

The hard part

What the first season taught us

Season 1 did not go to plan. The harvest came in well short of what we had budgeted, and we would rather say why than pretend otherwise. Three things cost us most, and each has changed how we farm.

  • Grass

    What happened

Our blocks were grazing land before they were cropland. The perennial grass that fed cattle came back through the young maize and took the yield with it. Once the crop was up, no in-crop herbicide could undo it. This was the biggest single cause of our lost yield.

    What changed

Any former grazing land now gets a non-selective knockdown 14 to 21 days before cultivation. It is written into our land preparation procedure and budgeted every season.

  • Water

    What happened

Heavy rain settled on our lowest and largest block and stayed. Where water stood, maize drowned or stunted, and that block gave the poorest yield of the farm.

    What changed

We now know where the water goes. Drainage on the low ground comes before the next crop on it.

  • Fall armyworm

    What happened

Fall armyworm found the crop while it was young and took its share before we had it under control.

    What changed

Scouting starts at emergence and is logged block by block, so the response comes in days rather than weeks.

None of this is unusual for a first season on new land in Narok. What we can promise is that every lesson is written down, costed and carried into the next season, and that the same records we keep on our own blocks are the records we keep on every bag we buy.
